Hello lovelies
Sorry to keep you waiting on part 2 for a little bit longer than I had originally anticipated.
So in part 2 of this Thailand blog I'm going to talk about more excursions and other islands and spas and recreational activities.
So firstly I had decided that I was going to try and take in a few spas sessions as they are much cheaper here than at home. The spas I went to were super luxurious and honestly like no other spas I've ever been to.
The first experience I had was in the JW Mariott in Khao Lak.

Like how about that for a spa?
It was so tranquil and theming with wildlife such as frogs and lizards probably not everyone's cup of tea but the sound of them was so relaxing! I spent a whole day here as it was raining and we could do nothing else really and this place in the rain is even more tranquil, it's just absolutely stunning! They greeted me with a cup of special herbal tea and some mixed nuts and then was lead into a private changing room to change and then into a treatment room complete with stream room and sauna and hot tub and snacks. Firstly I was in the steam room and then to a flower bath for the first 30 minutes. I was then lead into the treatment room which smelled so lovely of fresh flowers and had a lovely atmosphere overall. I had a full body massage followed by a body wrap and full exfoliation and then I could shower before I had a travel facial that was specifically designed for people that had come from long haul flights to replenish your skin and it definitely did that! She even gave me a head massage as well! She was so lovely and professional. I was finished in about 4 hours and from there I was allowed to relax in a private alcove and served fruit, dried banana crisps and juice and tea. It was such a lovely experience!

We also took a day at an elephant camp which was about 30 minutes from the resort I was so looking forward to this I couldn't wait to help look after these amazing creatures. They're so smart and so huge I know that's a bit obvious but until you're right beside one that doesn't really sink it! We got to feed them and wash them down. Please be careful when booking these excursions that the elephants are not being abushed or exploited for tourists and elephant rides!

Our elephants name was Shirley and she was the old lady of the herd! It was so much fun feeding them with bananas they are very picky about them and would throw any green bananas back at you since they didn't like them!
From there we went onto a turtle conservation centre and got to feed the turtle and see them at different stages of their lives. This was so amazing if you're an animal lover like me this would be perfect for you! Outside the the centre there's also a ship that was stranded there from when the tsunami hit in 2004. The devastation can still be seen and the extremes in wealth is very noticeable.

Next we went to a waterfall that was about another 30 minute drive from the turtle sanctuary. I can't remember the name of the waterfall but it was so beautiful and climbing to it was so fun and our guide was more than happy to take pictures of us. We took in a lot of waterfalls with out excursions and climbing to them at the foot of a jungle is very scary but also so exciting.

Now onto Koh Phi Phi....
So we booked this through our hotel and this is a really full on day trip so make sure you get plenty of sleep! We took a speed boat to the island but it was pouring rain the whole day unfortunately! First we went to Maya Bay where the movie the beach was filmed and thankfully it stopped raining for a short period of time so we could enjoy the scenery and sun.

Sadly the place was too crowded to enjoy it properly and we were only allowed to stay for about an hour before we had to go snorkelling next. I'd never been snorkelling before and being out of my depth in water really makes me anxious but our guides were really helpful. We went to two different spots for snorkelling and seeing all the different fish and turtles up close was so cool!
Next we went to mokney beach again the beach was so crowded and the stop was very quick but we got a few nice pictures!

Also the company that we chose made a DVD of footage from our entire day. However they never sent us a copy which we were so disappointed about as we didn't bother taking much footage or photos during the day because of that. Phi Phi looked beautiful but overall it was just too overcrowded for us.
Another day we also went kayaking through some of the caves around the islands. This is a really cheap and fun excursion and very peaceful too. You can even enjoy drinks and coconuts from floating snack bars! The scenery is breathtaking it's like being in Jurassic park with all the sounds and wildlife and trees and jungle scenery.

We then had another big journey to Kao Chang so we had to take a short flight and then about an hour journey to our next hotel

We stayed in another resort called the emerald coast which was another beautiful place and much cheaper than the JW marriott. The last couple of days we chilled out and walked around the local area a lot. We also rented a moped and went around the island which Paul loved and I was just left clinging for my life!
And being typical Irish folk we of course found the only Irish pub on the island!
Oh and on a side note...If you want to have a really special date night. Then a private dinner on the beach is definitely one to consider! Doesn't it look dreamy? A lot of beach resorts offer this type of dinner.

So finally to finish this off the one piece of advice I could give is too make sure you get a lot of sleep before your trip. We did so much traveling and activities that you can get tired so easily!
Thailand is such a beautiful country filled with such happy and smiley people. It is truly a paradise and the culture is breathtaking and so colourful and vibrant. It's definitely a once in a lifetime kind of trip and I've so many found memories from it.
I hope you enjoyed this post guys and if you want to know anything else all you have to do is ask.
Lots of love
Victoria X
